Big Scrub Rainforest Day at Rocky Creek Dam on Sunday 30th October 2022.

What a fantastic day we had together at Rocky Creek Dam on Sunday 30th October, 2022, for our 24th annual Big Scrub Rainforest Day!  The weather was absolutely glorious and there were so many smiling faces!

With an estimated 750 people in attendance, it was truly wonderful to see so many people who were keen to learn more about how to care for and rehabilitate our critically endangered Big Scrub rainforest.  A huge highlight of the day was the 1,000 mixed species rainforest trees being planted by both young and old alike.  It will be great to see these trees mature over the coming years!

Other highlights included a heartfelt Welcome to Country from Uncle Roy Gordon along with a broad range of environment-related presentations, workshops, walks and interactive activities from our many experts.  Stallholders were kept busy all day with people keen to learn more about how to best look after and regenerate our rainforest, reduce weeds, improve our water resources and care for the animals that inhabit our natural environment.

We have received such positive feedback from the community about the event, with a number of people suggesting it was a day they truly needed after the various challenges we have all faced over the past few years.  There were many people who brought a picnic which added to the relaxed atmosphere of the day.

So many people helped to make the day such a special celebration of the Big Scrub rainforest.

Thanks to all our presenters, walk hosts, stallholders, the community planting leaders and our awesome volunteers. Many thanks also to our amazing sponsors: Rous County Council, Local Land Services, Rainforest Rescue, Big Scrub Regeneration, Envite Environment, Firewheel Rainforest Nursery and Brookfarm.  Your wonderful support made the day possible and we are incredibly grateful.

We look forward to seeing you again at our next Big Scrub Rainforest Day!
