A day spent creating habitat 🦆 Science Saving A day spent creating habitat 🦆 Science Saving Rainforests’ plantation site is taking shape. The lake in the middle of the site is a haven for water birds and other wildlife. Our team have been busy recycling camphor logs to create structure for nesting and shelter. One day the shores of this lake will also be lined with rainforest! Our Science Saving Rainforests program, along with the plight of the Big Scrub, will be a feature story in the first quarter of next year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We will be documenting more of the work done on the SSR plantation site and look forward to sharing the progress with you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #sciencesavingrainforests @firewheelrainforestnursery
Last week saw another Big Scrub Schools Planting D Last week saw another Big Scrub Schools Planting Day, getting the next generation involved in regenerating and learning about the rainforest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Several schools attended the event held in conjunction with @rouscountycouncil, Envite Environment, Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre and @firewheelrainforestnursey at Rocky Creek Dam. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As well as planting 800 trees, the students from Rosebank, Corndale, The Channon and Nimbin Central schools were treated to a guided walk through the rainforest, Welcome to Country from Widajbul Wia Bal Elder Roy Gordon and educational activities throughout the day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They planted a new patch of rainforest, which they’ll get to see grow to maturity in their lifetime! 🫶
