Then return your survey to John Chamberlain (Team Leader: Landholder Relationships – Big Scrub) at info@bigscrubrainforest.org.au
We need information from the Survey to help us compile accurate data on and to map more accurately the rainforest remnants and areas of restoration activity across the region. By completing the survey form you will help us in this important project.
Since its formation Big Scrub Landcare (BSL) has, in cooperation with Envite Environment, been accumulating information on rainforest restoration work in our region. This includes building a map of existing rainforest remnants and areas of restoration activity across the landscape. This has helped us to inform government and the community about progress in restoring our rainforest and to determine areas of priority for grants and projects. The information gathered has been incorporated into graphic maps of the region that shows that we have around 1000 Ha of remnants or around 1.3% of the original Big Scrub area. Our aim is to increase the area of re-established rainforest to match this area.
We have identified more remnants and areas of rainforest restoration thanks to cooperation from our landholder members, our partners such as Envite and Rous County Council, and others doing restoration work. We recognise that we could have missed some remnants and we have only limited data on significant restoration work such as plantings carried out by dedicated landholders. We are very keen to capture information on this valuable work that members and others are carrying out as it will give us a more accurate picture about the real status of Big Scrub restoration works. We are now working with Envite on a project to collect restoration data and map more accurately the rainforest remnants and areas of restoration activity across the region. If you are doing restoration work on your property please help us in this important project by completing the survey.
