What a night on Saturday and a wonderful fundraise What a night on Saturday and a wonderful fundraiser put on by the @firewheelrainforestnursery crew! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Scrubbers Ball raised funds for our work saving the Big Scrub and for the Dorroughby Hall. Great to see so many come out and let their hair down in the name of charity! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks to all the Scrubbers who dressed up for the “Tuxgown” theme and made it such an amazing night. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Big shout out to Lismore Council for supporting the event, Mark Burton for working tirelessly on sound and lights, Jo and Joel from Firewheel, and @commonpeoplebrewing and @capebyrondistillery for putting on drinks.
A new first for us – 60,000 trees in the ground A new first for us – 60,000 trees in the ground as part of a carbon credits program. The plantings are part of the Nestlé Global Reforestation Program, which in Australia aims to establish 10 million trees in partnership with @GreeningAustralia, Canopy and One Tree Planted. There are over 50 remnants of the Big Scrub rainfo There are over 50 remnants of the Big Scrub rainforest. Each year we care for as many as possible to maintain and restore what’s left to its former glory. ​​​​​​​​​ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over the past year we have completed approx 302 days working in the remnants. That’s around 2,416 hours of professional bush regenerator time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you to our fantastic supporters who remain committed to funding this work: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - NSW Government’s Environmental Trust - NSW Government’s Saving our Species Unit - Rekindle Foundation - Big Scrub Foundation ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This work goes into caring for remnants like Hayters Hill Nature Reserve, pictured here in beautiful shots by @rborrow. #bigscrubrainforest

With many critical tree species having only a single or few trees left in each rainforest remnant, healthy reproduction has become impossible.
